The Buddy system helps children to get to know other children in different year groups. It can also help to support the younger children. Every child in the school will belong to a Buddy Group and in each group there will be one child from each year group, starting at Reception.
Year 6 children are called the Top Buddies and have responsibilities within their Buddy Group. When the Top Buddy leaves for secondary school, the year 5 child will take on responsibility of Top Buddy as they move into year 6.
The Aycliffe Drive Buddy System aims to enhance the learning in:
- Positive role modelling
- Taking responsibility
- Being caring
- Feeling valued
- Security
- Relationships
- Increasing self-esteem and confidence
