Reception pirate day has been a great success , all the children have completed all the activities including, scrubbing the deck, treasure hunting for the captains gold, decorating their own pirate cake, a pirate theme obstacle course, they even walked the plank joined by Mr Merril.
In the afternoon the children enjoyed our pirate party food and found a treasure chest filled with special bags with a coin in each and a certificate for taking part.

Further to our scientific investigation earlier this month, we have today checked our eggs. We have noted that the egg in the vinegar doubled in size with all its shell disintegrating and had a spongy feel to it.The blackcurrant juice dyed the shell and went mouldy, the milk separated and smelt awful! The orange juice covered the shell in a kind of skin, and smelt awful as well. The coke made the shell disappear a bi, with it becoming spongy. Finally the water did not seem to do anything to the shell. Glad to say, all the eggs stayed whole.

On Thursday 25th September the pupil in upper key stage 2 visited the Imperial War museum in connection to their history and D.T topics.
They were able to see close up some of the planes that took part in the Second World War as well as examples of different vehicles used during the conflict.
The children were also very lucky to meet face to face three veterans who shared their own experiences of military conflict. Two of the gentleman were only very young children when the war started so they talked and answered questions about their own experiences of daily life during this period. The third man had only in the last few years left military service so he was able to talk about modern life in the army.
All the children had an informative and enjoyable visit.

Today in KS1 we were very excited to have people from Yorkshire Building Society to teach us about how to look after our money and look at what things are essential to buy and which things we really don’t need. The children took part in many activities and discussed their ideas together.
