In Laurel we have been very busy creating new displays in class. The children enjoyed writing their own newspaper reports in English linked to the story of Cinnamon by Neil Gaiman. Last week the children drew and coloured in their book day character and took part in many activities linked to Book Week. The children have also been very busy at home creating posters displaying fun facts on mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes. Here are just some of the displays in our classroom.
Redwood Class making Periscopes to investigate how light travels.
Redwood Class Year 6 had a fabulous time at the Harry Potter World in connection to their English learning using the Harry Potter texts as examples of classic modern fantasy fiction. We had a workshop which developed our writing skills in this genre and took part in a tailored tour. All the children were not just brilliantly behaved but were so excited and inspired in their learning by this experience too.
We had our Christmas Fire this afternoon. We enjoyed toasting (and eating) marshmallows and singing Christmas Carols!
For our Art we looked at cubism. We have been looking at the work of Picasso and other artists who have used this genre. We painted these pictures of flowers using geometric shapes and acrylic paints.
We had 4 different brands of nappies and we had to find out which nappy would hold and absorb the greater amount of liquid. Aldi won!
