About Pre-school

About us

We are a friendly Pre-School based on the grounds of Aycliffe Drive School, providing a fun learning experience for children aged 2 to 4 years.

We follow the Foundation Stage curriculum published by the Department for Education which divides children’s learning into seven areas:

  • Three Primary Areas:
    • Personal, Social and Emotional Development Communication and Language Development
    • Physical Development
    • Four Specific Areas:
    • Literacy
    • Mathematics
    • Understanding the World
    • Art and Expressive Design

We have a close relationship with Aycliffe Drive Primary School meaning the transition between Pre-School and Nursery is a natural progression.  Our team of staff are qualified, experienced and caring, and constantly undergoing training to suit the needs of our setting.

When your child first starts at the setting they will be assigned a ‘key person’ who will help them to settle and who will continue to support your child’s learning and development throughout their time at pre-school.  Activities throughout the day are often worked in small key groups which is very comforting for young children.

Aycliffe Drive Pre-School Aims to:

  • Provide high quality care and education for children following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
  • Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop
  • Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity

Parents & Children have the right to be:

  • Valued and respected
  • Kept informed
  • Consulted
  • Involved and included at all levels

Aycliffe Drive Pre-School is a non profit making group and parents are encouraged to take an active role within pre-school.  We ask parents for their support by sharing ideas and participating in events, or by volunteering. There is also an opportunity to join the management team of Trustees, which helps run the pre-school to promote working with parent/carers and assist with fundraising events.

If any parents would like to get more involved please ask the Pre-School Leader for more information.

Please help support us to continue to give your child the best early year’s start in life that we can.
